Sealing Cracks in Walls

Foundation walls of all types develop cracks. Poured concrete, block, or stone walls are subject to this cracking caused by any number of sources. When this occurs, structural damage can result, water and soil can leak in, and in general mold and mildew can result from the water intrusion. Covering these cracks is not the preferred method, as this will simply hide the problem and it will only worsen with time. While there are several ways to treat these cracks, the most economical, cleanest and ultimately the best way to seal these cracks is the injection of a non-toxic material from the inside of the home, sealing both the crack as well as the exterior wall, without the cost of moving outside obstructions. A brief description of the process is below.
- Route crack and patch with hydraulic cement
- Drill 5/8” diameter holes and insert ports with shut off valves
- Inject sealing material through these ports
- After a set up period, remove ports and patch openings
- This process is relatively non-invasive, cost effective, and most importantly is guaranteed.

Installing a pressure relief system under the basement floor lowers hydrostatic water pressure below the structure and in surrounding soil.
Cut and remove the floor, in the work area. Excavate the work area, as per drawing and remove the debris.
Geotextile filtering fabric is placed in the excavated area to filter the water entering the system, so no clogging from silt or mud will occur.
Four inch perforated pipe is then placed within the protective filtering fabric.
Drain ports, 1 1/2" in diameter, are then installed in the hollow cells of the block below the floor to allow water in the wall to drain into the pipe and through the pipe to the submersible pump.
The area is then filled with state inspected stone or gravel and hand packed.
Channel Cove vapor barrier is then placed on top of the stone to prevent damp spots from appearing on the new concrete floor.
Using the nation's newest and most effective external and internal processes...
Can waterproof your basement permanently without digging!
The Process
The Stop Leak pressure pumping process scientifically replaces old-fashioned waterproofing! No more excavating around walls to apply tar, pitch or other materials that will eventually dry out, shrink, and crack.
Pressure pumping is a mthod of applying a water resistant expandable inorganic mineral which forms a perfect seal on exterior walls without excavation and seals the cracks in masonry, concrete, brick or concrete blocks by following the crack through the wall, thus forming a complete closure against moisture and water.
Stop Leak's waterproofing compound not only seals the outside and the inside walls (where cracked) but also impregnates outside soil to a width of twelve inches from walls - forming a zone of protection and effectually sealing off water seepage.
The Material
Stop Leak's waterproofing compound, has the ability to absorb 20 times its volume of water. After the absorption point is reached, all additional moisture and water is repelled. The material is flexible and when applied according to the pressure pumping process, automatically seals walls against seepage by settling or surface vibration. The material can resist water infiltration permanently after reaching full expansion.
The Method
In the pressure pumping method, waterproofing compound is pumped from pre-mix tanks through high-pressure hoses into spuds inserted in the ground approximately three feet apart. Waterproofing compound is applied by the spuds at different levels - is forced against the wall, into cracks, effectively sealing against dampness, sweating, and surface water. Injected around the entire foundation in this way, the waterproofing compound forms a seal without disturbing the soil around the walls... WITHOUT DIGGING...WITHOUT INJURY TO SHRUBSS, LAWN, FLOWERS, SIDEWALKS OR DRIVEWAYS!
The illustration shows a basement wall down to the footings. It is cracked and has let water through. Waterproofing compound applied under pressure can repair these openings. This material will not evaporate or deteriorate through age or soil condition.
